About the Endometriosis Awareness Month
Endometriosis is the second most common gynaecological condition, but also a disease often unrecognized until it becomes an acute condition. It affects 10% of the women in reproductive age. The awareness about the disease is very poor. The diagnostic is limited, and the research is poor too.
The Endometriosis Awareness Month March is the right time for me and my clinic to present our project.
Our awareness campaign about endometriosis is telling stories of endometriosis patients. Please read more here. It is about 28 brave women in front of the camera of Ron Clark, telling their endometriosis stories. It is an emotional and particularly important project to raise awareness of endometriosis.
Who is behind the project: Gynpoint Endometriosevereinigung Schweiz in collaboration with See-Spital Horgen.
The most important goal is to raise the knowledge in adolescents that they do not need to suffer due to menstrual pains and chronic lower abdominal pain, to question if the pains are normal, and to encourage them to look for a specialist. Melanie (Endometriosis Care Nurse by gynpoint) and I created a booklet and supported by See-Spital Horgen we will send it the coming week to all schools, general practitioners and pediatricians in Kanton Zürich.
Do you know what Endometriosis is?
Check out our projects and spread the word!
